Founded in 2005, New England Equine Rescues (NEER) was formed to
answer a need within the equine community to network hard-to-place
horses that were not able to find sanctuary in overcrowded rescues
throughout the New England area.
As an organization, the mission has expanded. Today, NEER
actively rescues horses from a variety of situation: including owner
surrenders, abuse & neglect situations as well as horses at risk for
slaughter. NEER provides sanctuary & rehabilitation in foster
homes with the intention of adoption in to new families as
appropriate. Among other horse welfare organizations, NEER is a
member of the Horse Rescue Coalition, Homes for Horses & Equine
Welfare Alliance.
NEER is a federally recognized, all volunteer, 501c3 non-profit
organization.
